Mumbai: A truck crashed into the retaining wall of the Mrinal Tai Gore flyover extension on Friday, resulting in a portion of the sound barrier falling on SV Road below near Oshiwara market. The road below is usually busy, but no one was on that stretch at the time.Residents sought a lower speed limit for heavy vehicles on the flyover. Karan Jotwani, co-founder of Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizens Association, raised concerns about the flyover’s surface. “I don’t know if the surface is slippery, but this has happened for the second time.” Dhaval Shah of the association said there are a few sharp turns on the flyover. “The road surface should be made coarse at these locations, and authorities should also set a different speed limit for heavy vehicles. They should also install speed detection and surveillance cameras on the flyover.”A few bikers later skidded and fell near the same spot on the flyover following light rainfall.
