Gurgaon: A 22-year-old truck driver burnt to death after his vehicle slammed into another truck on KMP Expressway and erupted into flames, leaving him with no way out as the fire tore through the windshield.The crash occurred around 1.30am on Saturday between Pataudi and Farrukhnagar toll plazas. Police said vehicles cannot be parked on expressways where traffic often moves at close to 100kmph, making any stopped vehicle a deadly hazard.An officer said the container, coming from the Bilaspur side, was headed to a Flipkart warehouse in Farrukhnagar for loading when it rammed the truck parked on the roadside. “The impact was so severe that the vehicle caught fire within moments,” the officer said.

The flames quickly spread across the container, trapping the driver, identified as Deepu (22), a resident of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh. “He could not escape as the fire spread rapidly. By the time help arrived, he had succumbed to the burn injuries,” the officer said.A fire brigade team rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after sustained efforts. Deepu’s charred body was later recovered from the cabin and taken to a mortuary for autopsy. “His family is on the way. So the autopsy will be conducted on Sunday,” the officer said.A case was registered under sections 106 (death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the BNS at Farrukhnagar police station. “The truck driver fled after the crash. We are analysing CCTV footage to trace him,” the officer said.Traffic on the stretch was disrupted briefly during firefighting operations.
