Hyderabad: Expressing concern over the deaths of infants in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha asked chief minister A Revanth Reddy to order an independent third party audit across all government hospitals statewide, focusing strictly on maintenance, electrical wiring, air-conditioning safety, and fire-fighting systems. She also asked the state govt to initiate immediate, transparent criminal and disciplinary proceedings against all officials, administrative heads, and agencies whose negligence directly caused or permitted this fatal safety lapse.Kavitha, who visited the hospital on Wednesday, wrote a letter to CM, said the tragic incident resulted in the heartbreaking loss of five innocent infants and left grieving families shattered. Describing the incident ‘not as an act of God, but as a consequence of “administrative apathy and criminal negligence,“, she expressed concern over the deteriorating state of public healthcare infrastructure where a medical sanctuary turned into a death trap due to compromised safety mechanisms.The TRS chief slammed the political executive for a staggering display of callous indifference, noting that the health minister’s recent site visit offered no concrete assurances, compounded the trauma of grieving parents through uncoordinated administrative flip-flops, and dismissed accountability behind routine bureaucratic committees.She asked the govt to place the findings of the third party safety audits in the public domain without delay so citizens and taxpayers know the exact state of safety in public hospitals.“Ensure that the affected families are provided with the highest tier of financial compensation, and take complete responsibility for covering all medical and rehabilitation costs for other children and infants who suffered trauma or injuries during the evacuation,” Kavitha said in the letter.“The safety of our children and citizens cannot be compromised by bureaucratic delays and systemic indifference,” the letter said urging the Chief Minister for proactive intervention.ends/
