Agartala: A suspended govt school teacher allegedly killed his wife and son while they were asleep and then attempted to take his own life in the Belatali area of Udaipur in Tripura’s Gomati district on Sunday night, police said.According to police, Ajit Das allegedly attacked his wife, Rupa Das (45), and their son, Diganta Das (19), late at night when both were asleep. Diganta was a student at ICFAI University in Tripura.The incident came to light early Monday after neighbours heard screams from the house and alerted police. Officers who reached the spot found Das lying on the floor in a critical condition after allegedly consuming poison, while his wife and son were found on the bed “in a pool of blood,” police said.Investigators said initial findings suggest the victims were assaulted. A blood-stained wooden object recovered from the house is believed to have been used in the attack.Police said Das then allegedly consumed pesticide in an apparent suicide attempt. He was taken to Udaipur District Hospital for treatment, and doctors said he is out of danger.Preliminary reports indicate Das had been facing mental health issues and was undergoing treatment. Police said he had recently been suspended from his job over allegations of administrative misconduct, and the family had been under stress.
