Agartala: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee’s executive panel deliberated on strategies to rejuvenate the party in the northeast, especially with elections looming in Manipur, and is gearing up for a robust political campaign in the region.Addressing the meeting, MLA and member of the Congress Working Committee Sudip Roy Barman criticised the BJP-led central govt, alleging that its anti-people economic policies and adopting a foreign policy are sacrificing India’s interests. He said the nation is grappling with an economic downturn and that India’s foreign policy has suffered under the current administration. Citing previous remarks made by leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi on Covid-19 management, GST rollout, economic strategies, and international relations, he said those issues have now been validated.“People are slowly coming to understand that the previous warnings are becoming a reality,” Roy Barman said. He called on party members to stay dedicated.Questioning India’s purchase of petroleum from Russia, Roy Barman said while these products were acquired at reduced rates, the average citizen has not seen a corresponding drop in fuel prices. Instead, he argued that significant corporate entities are profiting from refining these imports and reselling them abroad at inflated prices.BJP has not yet responded to the claims made during the Congress gathering.Meanwhile, Tripura Congress president Ashis Kumar Saha told the media that the executive meeting was part of a broader strategy to revitalise organisational efforts ahead of urban body elections and to enhance the party’s cooperation across northeast.
