Ahmedabad: Amdavadis caught a brief break from the climbing heat this Friday as a rare convergence of three weather systems nudged the mercury down. In a swift 24-hour turnaround, the city saw temperatures slip by over 2°C, trading Thursday’s harsh 34.7°C for a much softer 32.6°C, 0.5 degrees lower than normal. This atmospheric “reset” was brought on by an upper air cyclonic circulation over Kutch, a trough from Tamil Nadu to south-west Madhya Pradesh, and an upper air cyclonic circulation over west Rajasthan and adjoining Pakistan. At 19.1°C, the minimum temperature was 2.6 degrees higher than normal, on Friday compared to 21.6°C on Thursday.

However, the IMD suggests we enjoy this “sweet spot” while it lasts. From March 1, the city is expected to pivot back toward a steady climb. On March 4 and 5, the IMD forecast warns of hot and humid conditions for coastal regions of Saurashtra and Kutch.Across Gujarat, the maximum temperatures remained around 29°C to 33°C, whereas minimum temperatures remained around 17°C to 19°C.
