Mangaluru: Belthangady police have launched an investigation after three miscreants allegedly attempted to abduct a minor schoolgirl while she was on her way to school.According to police, the incident occurred within the Belthangady police station limits on Monday at 8.30am. A 16-year-old girl, who was on her way to school on a two-wheeler, was stopped by three unidentified men with their faces covered. They arrived in a minivan at a location about 300m from her house.
The accused allegedly attempted to abduct the girl. When she resisted, they attacked her with a knife, inflicting four stab injuries on her left hand. The injuries were superficial in nature and did not require stitches, police said.Following the incident, the girl, along with her parents, approached police station and lodged a complaint. Based on the complaint, a case was registered, and the investigation is on.
