A family has paid tribute to a “bold and adventurous” 15-year-old boy killed in a paddleboarding incident on a Fife loch.

Police Scotland named Alexander McNab as the body recovered from the water at Lochore Meadows in Crosshill on Sunday afternoon.

The fire service and coastguard were involved in searches of Loch Ore, after reports of concern for Alexander in the water at 17:25 on Saturday.

Officers said the death was not suspicious and a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

In a statement, Alexander’s family said he was “adventurous, bold, hard-working, ambitious and always looking out and caring for others”.

They added: “He is a much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, friend and boyfriend and a big part of his local community.

“Alexander will be forever missed by those that knew him and loved him.”

Det Sgt Duncan Thompson, of Police Scotland, said: “Our thoughts are very much with Alexander’s family at this very distressing time and we have specialist officers supporting them.”
