Bicholim: Trenches dug by the electricity department along the bypass road from Bicholim bus stand to Van Maulinguem to lay underground electricity cables have become dangerous due to improper restoration. Locals cannot walk safely, while the two-wheeler riders fear accidents on the damaged stretch.“The road has become narrow as almost 2m of the stretch has not been repaired properly. Consequently, vehicles heading towards Van Maulinguem and Chambharkond are using the wrong side to avoid the damaged road,” said Sushant Haldankar, a local from Van Maulinguem.“There is a risk of accidents as the two-wheelers may skid due to improper restoration of the road. I have seen about 40-50 spots from the bus stand to Van Maulinguem wherein the left portion of the road has not been restored properly,” said local Vithoba Malik.Villagers have urged the electricity department to restore the road at the earliest to avoid inconvenience.
