Shimla: The Bharmour sub-division administration in Chamba district has banned trekking towards Manimahesh Lake, located at an altitude of nearly 13,000 feet, citing heavy snowfall and dangerous trail conditions in higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh.Bharmour SDM Vikas Sharma said movement beyond Hadsar on the yatra route, including Dhancho and Gaurikund, has been completely prohibited during off-season. Police have been deployed at key checkpoints to stop pilgrims from proceeding further.Officials said despite repeated warnings, some devotees attempt the trek without informing authorities, risking their lives. The region is under 4–5 feet of snow, with fresh snowfall reported in recent days. The trekking route has also been damaged at several stretches, particularly after the 2023 monsoon disaster.
