Kolkata: A tree collapsed on a parked car and a stationary biker near Exide crossing on Friday evening, crushing the car roof and severely injuring the rider. Traffic was crippled for close to an hour. The rider was trapped beneath the heavy branches and cops pulled him out. He has been hospitalised. Officers are investigating if the tree had decayed or succumbed to sudden soil loosening.
