Mysuru: The foresters continued treatment for a 25-year-old female wild elephant that was stuck in the reservoir slush at Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district.Even though the elephant is active, it is struggling to stand on its feet, and efforts using tamed elephants and cranes to lift it too went in vain.It all started on Sunday morning when three female wild elephants of a herd of five elephants got stuck in the muddy backwaters near Ajjipura in Hanur taluk. Upon receiving the information, two were rescued by forest officials with the help of police and fire personnel. However, the third elephant is unable to move.According to officials, these elephants had come to the reservoir to drink water.“The elephant receiving treatment is in stable condition. The rest of its herd is nearby in the adjoining forest,” said MM Hills wildlife sanctuary DCF B Bhaskar.
