Patna: The education department has increased the number of vacancies for music teachers in Classes IX and X by 111 under TRE-4, raising the total number of teaching posts to be filled through the recruitment drive to 33,385, education minister Mithilesh Tiwari said on Friday.He said the additional requisition would be sent to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) shortly.On the ongoing teacher transfer process, Tiwari said lists for surplus and mutual transfers would be released soon. Of the 73,151 applications received from surplus teachers, around 37,000 applicants have been allotted schools among their first five preferences, he said.The minister said the transfer process was voluntary and being conducted online under the Bihar State Teacher Transfer Rules, 2026. Applications for general transfers will open on Sept 17, including for teachers who were unable to apply by the Aug 5 deadline.The department aims to complete all transfer-related processes by Oct 31, he added.Referring to teachers deployed for census duty, Tiwari said the department had sought feedback regarding their transfers and was expected to receive a response within two days. He said transfers would be carried out for all eligible teachers except those covered by the court stay order.The minister also announced that recruitment of computer teachers and librarians would be taken up soon. He warned that action would be initiated against officials responsible for undue delays in clearing pending dues of teachers.
