Srinagar: PDP spokesperson and Chanapora Constituency Incharge Mohammad Iqbal Tramboo has welcomed the Ease of Doing Business initiative, saying it could help address unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir by encouraging youth entrepreneurship and self-employment.
Tramboo said aspiring entrepreneurs often face lengthy official formalities, bureaucratic hurdles and delays in obtaining clearances, discouraging them from setting up their own businesses.
He said effective implementation of the initiative could simplify procedures, reduce red tape and enable young people to establish enterprises and generate employment opportunities.
“Given the extent of unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir, simplifying business procedures is a welcome step. Our youth have the talent, ideas and determination to build their own enterprises, but unnecessary official formalities often exhaust them and discourage their efforts,” he said.
However, Tramboo stressed that promoting investment and business activity should not come at the cost of Jammu and Kashmir’s fragile ecology.
He called on the government to strike a balance between the Ease of Doing Business and the Ease of Living, ensuring that environmental safeguards remain a priority while framing implementation guidelines.
He said a transparent, simplified and environmentally responsible policy framework could encourage entrepreneurship, create sustainable livelihood opportunities and contribute to the region’s long-term economic development.
