No injuries as training aircraft veers off runway at Baramati airport

PUNE: A training aircraft belonging to a private flight training organisation (FTO) veered off the runway of the MADC operated Baramati Airport on Sunday afternoon while on a training exercise.Sources said that there were two people including the trainer pilot and trainee in the four seater aircraft, a Cessena 172S bearing number VT-SEX. The incident took place at around 12.35pm.Fortunately, there have not been any injuries or casualties in the incident, DSP (Baramati) Chaitanya Kadam confirmed.The plane was undergoing an emergency training exercise in which it had to take-off following the power was switched off and the trainee pilot had to land the aircraft. During the second attempt on the same, the brakes of the aircraft didn’t hit and it ended around 20 meters right off the runway threshold, sources added.Further investigations are being carried out. Before this, a training aircraft belonging to the Redbird Flight Training School had suffered a crash on May 13 leaving the trainee pilot with minor injuries.
