Dumka: A couple and their minor son were murdered in Danga village of Godda district late on Monday night over suspicion of practising witchcraft, police said.The victims were identified as Darbari Murmu (50), his wife Makku Baski (45) and their 12-year-old son, Jeetnarayan Murmu. Three persons have been arrested so far, police said. A team, led by sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Ashok Priyadarshi, rushed to the village upon receiving the information and initiated an investigation. The blood-stained axe used for the murder has also been recovered from the scene, police said.“Police have arrested three persons in this connection. During initial interrogation, the accused told the police that they suspected that the victims were practising witchcraft,” Godda sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Ashok Ravidas said.The accused have been identified as Santlal Murmu, Hemlal Murmu, and Talababu Murmu. All three have been booked under multiple sections of the BNS, including the charge of murder.Police said that they have informed the deceased couple’s married daughter, Sunita Murmu, who lives elsewhere, about the incident. Godda District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) has taken suo motu cognizance of the murder. The principal district and sessions judge-cum-secretary, DLSA, Dipak Kumar sent a team to the village to collect detailed information about the incident.The accused have been identified as Santlal Murmu, Hemlal Murmu, and Talababu Murmu.
