PUNE: Traffic on the Mumbai-Agra highway was disrupted for nearly five hours on Friday morning after a truck broke down near Munde village, close to Igatpuri. The incident occurred at around 4.30 am. A truck traveling towards Nashik from the Mumbai side got stuck in the middle of the road after a tyre burst. Owing to the ongoing road construction between Gonde and Igatpuri the traffic is restricted to a single lane for both directions. The disabled truck caused vehicles on either side of the highway to come to a standstill.Highway police officials attempted to secure a crane to move the vehicle. However, repeated calls to the Ghoti toll plaza yielded no results as no crane was available. To prevent complete gridlock, police officers managed the traffic manually, stopping and releasing vehicles from alternate directions at short intervals. The situation continued until a crane was finally arranged. The truck was pulled off the road, and traffic flow was restored at approximately 9.30 am.
