Patna: Traffic movement in parts of Patna will be regulated on July 30 following the conclusion of polling for the Bankipur byelection, as EVMs and VVPAT machines will be deposited at the strong room set up at A N College.The Patna traffic police have issued a special traffic plan to ensure smooth movement and security during the collection and storage of election materials. The restrictions will come into effect from 5.30pm on July 30 and will remain in place until the EVM-VVPAT deposition process is completed and then normal traffic movement is restored.Under the traffic arrangement, vehicles will not be allowed to move on the stretch from A N College to Pani Tanki Mor through Sahdev Mahato Marg. Restrictions will also be imposed on vehicles moving from Boring Road intersection towards Tapasya Mor, A N College and Pani Tanki Mor. However, emergency vehicles, including fire tenders, ambulances, hearses, patient vehicles, vehicles related to judicial work and those engaged in EVM-VVPAT collection duties will be exempted.Vehicles heading towards Boring Road will be diverted through Nehru Path, Boring Road crossing, Boring Road intersection, Boring Canal Road and Rajapur Pul. Similarly, vehicles coming from Kurji Mor towards Boring Road will be diverted towards Patliputra Golambar, from where smaller vehicles can take alternative routes.Vehicles travelling beyond this route will proceed from Sai Mandir Mor towards their destinations through Atal Path under Rajiv Nagar ROB. Vehicles moving from Kurji Mor towards Patna Junction will be diverted via Rajapur Pul, Boring Canal Road, Boring Road intersection and Boring Road crossing.The vehicles carrying election officials and EVM-VVPAT materials will reach the strong room at A N College through designated routes. These include Ashoka Rajpath-Rajapur Pul-Boring Road Square-Tapasya Chowk-A N College Main Gate and Bhattacharya Square-Dak Bungalow-Nehru Path-Boring Road Crossing-Boring Road Square-Tapasya Chowk-A N College Main Gate.The police have appealed to commuters to follow the diverted routes and cooperate with traffic personnel to avoid congestion during the EVM deposition process.
