Times News NetworkKanpur: City’s traffic police implemented the Smooth Traffic Scheme aimed at reducing congestion at Vijay Nagar Chauraha on Tuesday. The scheme was implemented under the direction of deputy commissioner of police (Traffic) Ravindra Kumar.Sector in-charges conducted a special awareness campaign, advising auto rickshaw drivers to follow traffic rules, park their vehicles at designated places, comply with the prescribed passenger-boarding norms and help maintain smooth traffic movement.Drivers were also urged to wear seat belts and helmets with straps, avoid using mobile phones while driving, and comply with rules against black films, no-parking violations and triple riding. The campaign also stressed that minors must not drive vehicles.Pamphlets were distributed and people were informed about schemes for assisting those injured in road accidents. The initiative seeks to reduce accidents and ensure safe, smooth traffic.
