Times News NetworkKanpur: One man died and two others seriously injured after an electricity pole touched an overhead high-tension line during installation at Pepsi Chauraha in Jainpur, Akbarpur, Kanpur Dehat, on Monday afternoon.A new pole was being erected with a Hydra machine when its upper end touched the power line. Three people holding the pole received electric shocks, causing chaos at the site.Local residents took them by private vehicle and ambulance to District Hospital Akbarpur, where doctors declared Bablu (30), son of Hoti Lal and a resident of Kudarkot in Auraiya, dead.The injured were identified as Sonu, son of Satya Prakash and also a resident of Kudarkot, and Gaurav, son of Ramesh Chandra and a resident of Tirwa in Kannauj. Both were initially treated at the district hospital.Police reached the site after receiving information and gathered details about the accident. They said there was no law-and-order problem.Akbarpur police station in-charge Harmeet Singh said Bablu’s body is being sent for post-mortem and the injured have been referred to the medical college for treatment.Police and the concerned department are investigating the circumstances of the accident, including whether safety standards, power safety arrangements and necessary precautions were followed before the pole was installed beneath the high-tension line.
