Ahmedabad: The city police have announced traffic diversions in Raipur ahead of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections to facilitate smooth movement of election personnel and electronic voting machines (EVMs) to and from designated dispatch and receiving centres during upcoming civic polling exercises.The restrictions will remain in effect during notified hours on April 25 and again on April 26-27 during post-poll work. Police said the measures are aimed at preventing congestion around the election facility and ensuring uninterrupted election logistics.The election centre has been established at Gujarat Shramyogi Kalyan Bhavan near the Shamji Krishna Varma Sports Complex. The arrangement at the Bhavan caters to Dariapur Ward 21, Khadia Ward 18, and Jamalpur Ward 19 areas. A one-way route has been notified from Raipur Crossroads to Gujarat Shramyogi Kalyan Bhavan. The stretch between Raipur Crossroads and Kagadapith junction will be closed to general traffic. Motorists have been advised to take routes via Parsi Agiyari junction, Vanijya Bhavan Crossroads, Safal-III Circle, Kankaria Gate No. 3, Astodia and Lal Darwaza, depending on direction of travel.
