Keonjhar: Tourist Gulsan Kumar Samal (21) from Kendrapara district, was taking photos against Gundichaghagi waterfall in Keonjhar district on Tuesday, when he fell into the water and went missing. The ODRAF team could not locate him till the filing of this report.Thereafter, the police team, along with ODRAF, rushed to the spot and started searching. The water-level in Musal river on which the waterfall is located, was swelling. Since the area is filled with rocks, and has a gorge downstream, the team has not yet found Samal’s whereabouts despite a continuous search for the second day.Sources said Gulsan had come with his friends to Gundichaghagi on a picnic. During revelry, he went near the waterfall to take photos. Suddenly he fell into the water and went missing. Many tourists were present at the spot around the time but failed to save him. Later, they informed the police.IIC Ghatagaon police station Subhranta Kumar Jena said, “The ODRAF team is at the spot and continuing the search operation torescue the man. After investigation the cause of the incident can be determined.”A few months ago, two people drowned at this spot within a month and went missing. As hundreds of visitors come to this spot every day, mostly in raina and winter, the local administration has raised precaution boards near the waterfall. Despite this, because the area is open and lacks security, many visitors approach the waterfall to see itsbeauty and bathe, causing accidents.
