T’puram: A case of alleged medical negligence has been reported after death of two-and-a-half-year-old Ayesha Fathima, following treatment at a private hospital in Kattakada. Acting on a complaint filed by her parents, Aryanadu police registered a case for unnatural death. According to her parents, Fathima was first taken to the hospital on Wednesday with fever and was sent home after primary care. On Sunday, when she developed breathing difficulties, she was taken to same hospital. Her father alleged that doctors administered an injection after which she lost consciousness and collapsed. She was later taken to Neyyar Medicity. Hospital authorities dismissed medical negligence allegations. Consultant paediatrician at Mamal Hospital Dr Arun Warrier said the child was brought with severe breathing distress and was given adrenaline. When she was taken to Medicity she had a faint pulse. She was declared brought dead at Medicity. Fathima’s autopsy was held at Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital on Monday and the results are awaited. TNN
