Mysuru: A toddler and her grandmother survived a leopard attack in Chamarajanagar district. The incident was reported from Tattegere village in Hanur taluk on Friday evening. The village is located about 40km from the taluk headquarters near MM Hills. The injured have been identified as Shivamma, 50, and her four-year-old granddaughter, Harshita.According to forest department officials, the leopard attacked the child while she was playing in front of her house. “The leopard attacked Harshita first. Hearing her screams, Shivamma rushed to rescue her granddaughter. The leopard then attacked Shivamma before fleeing the spot. Neighbours immediately shifted the injured to a local primary health centre and later to a private hospital,” forest department sources said.Following the incident, forest department officials launched a combing operation in the area. “A cage has been placed in the locality to capture the animal. Search operations are also being carried out using a thermal drone,” officials said.
