As the TNPL gears up for a milestone season this year with the 10th edition set to get underway from August 4 in Dindigul, the organisers have promised better pitches to ensure the action on the field is exciting.

The TNPL has helped unearth promising talents from the state to play for IPL franchises and even the country, with the likes of T. Natarajan, Varun Chakaravarthy and B. Sai Sudharsan, to name a few.

However, in recent times, that pipeline has started to dry out a bit, and one reason has been that the low-scoring pitches in the TNPL have not helped batters show their wares at a time when competition from other states has increased.

TNCA President T.J. Srinivasaraj said that the second half of the season to be played in Chennai will help in this regard. The ability to rotate between three to four surfaces at the MAC Stadium should ensure that the pitches don’t become tired as the tournament progresses.

“The T20 format has become more of a batters’ game, and this year we will ensure we give batting-friendly pitches so that we see some high-scoring games,” he remarked.

Ticket prices

Meanwhile, the ticket price for the matches in Dindigul has been set at Rs 200 for all stands. In Chennai, ticket prices will range from Rs 100 (C, D, E, F, I, J, K Lower), 150 (C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K Upper), Rs 300 (KMK Terrace) and Rs 500 (KMK Lower).
