Chennai: The state health department has created 284 superspecialist doctor posts and will assess infrastructure and staffing gaps in govt hospitals across districts after the budget session, said health minister K G Arunraj.Appointments will be made in fields including cardiology and nephrology, he said, acknowledging a shortage of superspecialists in govt hospitals. He also announced equipment and infrastructure upgrades at hospitals while promising to examine demands for dialysis units, MRI facilities, ICUs and liver transplant services.
