Chennai: Seeking to avoid confusion and streamline decision-making, the BJP in Tamil Nadu has constituted a seven member committee headed by state president Nainar Nagenthran. The panel will take key decisions on internal party matters and issues concerning the NDA in the state. Pon Radhakrishnan will be the coordinator of this panel. “From now on, this panel will take the final call on tour schedules of leaders, decision related to alliance parties. The panel will also decide on seat sharing, hold talks with allies and would also choose candidates,” said a member of the panel. “The party leadership does not any more confusion wth regard to election work,” the leader said adding that BJP was keen on preventing `unsavoury’ developments that might affect the electoral prospects of NDA.The move comes days after organising secretary Kesava Vinayagam was shifted to RSS work and former state president K Annamalai quit the 72-member panel assigned to carry out election work in assembly constituencies. Talking to reporters later, Nainar dismissed reports that BJP was demanding a share in power if the alliance won. He said there was no such demand and that the BJP’s only objective was to ensure the NDA’s victory in Tamil Nadu and see AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami become chief minister.Responding to queries on the progress of alliance talks with O Panneerselvam and the DMDK, Nainar said discussions with the DMDK have not begun. He declined to comment on statements made by DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant and AIADMK leaders regarding the status of alliance negotiations.
