Madhubani: In a joint operation with Madhubani police, the West Bengal Police arrested Kailash Mishra from Arer village in Benipatti subdivision late on Saturday evening. Mishra had unsuccessfully contested the recent West Bengal assembly elections as a Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from the Bali constituency.Benipatti DSP Amit Kumar said two to three cases related to fraud and financial irregularities had been registered against Mishra in West Bengal. In one of the cases, a court had issued a non-bailable warrant against him.According to the West Bengal Police, Mishra is accused of involvement in a financial scam worth crores of rupees. Police alleged he had been investing in Madhubani in an attempt to conceal the proceeds of the alleged fraud.Amit said, “Not only the West Bengal Police but also the Enforcement Directorate had been searching for Kailash Mishra.” He added that the West Bengal Police, in coordination with Madhubani police, formulated a strategy and successfully arrested the accused.Mishra is a resident of Arer village in the Benipatti block area of Madhubani district.
