Tilak Varma emerged as the top buy at the inaugural TG20 auction held here at the Ramoji Film City on Sunday, with Medak Falcons splashing ₹33 lakh — more than half of its ₹60 lakh purse — to buy him. Falcons beat Palamuru Strikers in a fierce bidding war to acquire the 23-year-old’s services.
Fellow India international Mohammed Siraj went for a more modest ₹14 lakh to Warangal Warriors in an auction which saw more than 1,300 Hyderabad Cricket Association-registered players go under the hammer.
C.V. Milind, meanwhile, emerged as the most expensive uncapped player, with Anvita Khammam Aces signing him for ₹17 lakh.
The other notable signings in the Icon category were Ravi Kiran (Strikers), T. Raviteja (Falcons), Tanay Thyagarajan (Pranava Ranga Reddy Risers), Rahul Buddhi (Anurag Nalgonda Knights), Tanmay Agarwal (Karimnagar Diamonds) and Rohit Rayudu (Strikers).
Among emerging talents, Md. Arfaz Ahmed (Knights) and M. Abhirath Reddy (Hyderabad e-Champions) became the joint-highest buys at ₹11 lakh each.
