Ranchi: SSP Ranchi Rakesh Ranjan has directed Tiger Mobile teams to intensify action against drug peddlers in the city and curb illegal sale of narcotics. He further instructed them to undergo firing practice, noting that many had not participated in such exercises for nearly two years. Following SSP’s directives, police personnel Took part in a firing practice session at the Jharkhand Armed Police-I ground in Bariatu on Friday.Ranjan chaired a review meeting late on Thursday and asked Tiger Mobile teams to immediately apprehend anyone found trafficking drugs. Urging the cops to register FIRs against offenders, SSP said teams should seek assistance from the nearest PCR vans if they face resistance or find themselves outnumbered during operations.“Police have zero tolerance towards drug peddling and related activities. The issue was a key focus during the crime review meeting. Additional Tiger Mobile personnel have been deployed in sensitive police station areas,” Ranjan said on Friday.Ranjan also asked the teams to maintain close surveillance on suspects in their respective areas and take prompt action against those engaged in drug-related activities. To strengthen enforcement, additional Tiger Mobile units have been deployed in police station areas considered sensitive, including Hindpiri, Kanke, Namkum and Ratu.Apart from anti-drug operations, the meeting also reviewed measures to curb illicit liquor trade and chain-snatching incidents. The SSP directed personnel to intensify patrolling around schools, colleges, banks, ATMs and jewellery shops, and ensure coverage of sensitive locations through QR code-based monitoring.
