Navi Mumbai: In a fatal mishap on an internal road in Airoli, two teenage boys riding on a bike were killed after being hit by a JCB machine on Friday around 10 am. The police detained the JCB machine driver. An FIR was registered at Rabale police station against the accused JCB driver, Hanumant Shinde (29), who was booked for rash and negligent driving causing death. Balkrushna Sawant, senior inspector of Rabale, said, “The accident occurred when the JCB machine driver, while crossing the road near New Horizon Public School in Sector 19, hit the bike and caused grievous injuries to the two teenagers. Both were declared brought dead at the hospital. Legal course of action is being taken against the accused JCB machine driver, Hanumant Shinde.”In another mishap, a 21-year-old youth riding a bike was killed after a speeding pickup cargo truck rammed into the bike’s rear end near Juinagar skywalk on Sion-Panvel highway Thursday around 6 am. The deceased biker has been identified as Vayun Falsankar, a resident of Mulund. After the accident, the accused trucker abandoned the vehicle and escaped. Nerul police registered an FIR against the unidentified truck driver for rash and negligent driving causing death.PSI Mayur Pawar of Nerul said, “Falsankar studied hotel management and was riding the bike to reach college in Kharghar. He was the only son of his widowed mother. He was declared brought dead at the hospital. The accused truck driver, who escaped leaving behind his vehicle, is being traced. From the cargo company, whose mobile number was painted on the truck, we obtained the driver’s number, but it was switched off.”
