Tragedy struck in West Champaran as three young friends lost their lives in a road accident. Their motorcycle collided with a parked truck near Bairia police station late Thursday night. Two died instantly, while the third succumbed to injuries Friday morning. The trio were returning from a fair, with the darkness reportedly obscuring the truck.

Bettiah: Three youths, all close friends, died in a road accident in West Champaran after their motorcycle rammed into a parked truck near Bagahi Badhiya Tola under Bairia police station area late Thursday night.According to police, two of the youths died on the spot, while the third succumbed to injuries during treatment at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Bettiah, on Friday morning.The deceased have been identified as Alok Raj (18), Roshan Kumar (15) and Vikas Kumar (20)—all residents of Ghuspura village under Bhitaha panchayat. The three were close friends and were returning on a motorcycle after visiting a fair organised on the occasion of a Mahayagya at Nath Baba Chowk.A family member, Narad Prasad, said the truck, loaded with fertilizer, was parked on the roadside. Due to darkness, the bike rider could not notice the vehicle, leading to the collision. He added that Alok was preparing for NEET in Patna, while Roshan was a Class XI student, and Vikas was set to go abroad for work.SHO, Bairia, Pramod Kumar, said a police team rushed to the spot after receiving information about the accident. “Two youths had died on the spot, while the third, who was critically injured, was taken to the GMCH where he passed away, ” he said.The police have seized the truck and handed over the bodies to the relatives after the postmortem. Further investigation is underway, said the SHO.
