Kanpur: The police arrested three people involved in robbing a trader on April 1 in Gwaltoli police station area. Two of the robbers were shot at in legs in police encounter and were arrested while their third accomplice was also caught after a chase. The accused were identified with the help of CCTV footage. Colonelganj police station in-charge inspector Vineet Kumar Chaudhary said that on the night of April 1, three bike-borne miscreants robbed bullion trader Ramu Kesarwani near Lal Imli Chauraha in Gwaltoli police station area. He was returning after closing his shop in Beconganj market. During investigation, Colonelganj police identified all three criminals with the help of CCTV footage. Late on Thursday night, the robbers were going to execute another robbery when police cornered them near Lal Imli. Upon seeing the police, all three opened fire. In retaliatory action, two criminals— Shariq Husain of Gammu Khan Ka Hata, and Kamran of Chamanganj Ajmeri Chauraha —were shot at in the legs, while the third was caught after a chase.
