Mumbai: Two cops, including RAK Marg police senior inspector Vinod Tawde, suffered injuries when three men on a bike rammed into them at Wadala during bandobast duty for Eid Milad-un-Nabi festival on Wednesday night.Police have arrested the rider, Ibrahim Kader Tamboli (20), and pillion riders Nikhil Somnath Jayaswar (22) and Armaan Feroz Khan (19), all residents of Dharavi. They have been booked under BNS sections for causing injuries due to negligence, rash and negligent riding, and riding helmetless.Tawde is undergoing treatment for serious injuries on his forehead and right leg at Global Hospital in Parel. Police inspector Jitendra Kuwar, who injured his right leg, was discharged after treatment.At 10.30pm, police on bandobast duty noticed a speeding bike with three men and signalled the rider to stop. But Tamboli allegedly accelerated and the motorcycle first hit Kuwar, injuring his right leg, and then struck Tawde, whose head hit the footrest of another motorcycle. The bike collided with another parked two-wheeler, causing the three men to fall. They were caught and brought to the police station.“While Kuwar was discharged after treatment, Tawde underwent CT and MRA scan to ascertain whether there was any internal injuries. He got seven stitches on his forehead and is being treated at private hospital,” said a police officer.Police said the motorcycle’s number plates were not visible. Its registration was subsequently established through its chassis number and an e-challan machine.
