Mumbai: A police vehicle that was parked at a road crash location at Dahisar East to ferry those impacted to the police station was hit by a speeding dumper, leaving three people injured. Police said the dumper also collided with multiple vehicles, including those impacted in the prior road crash.The incident occurred early Monday. A police team was engaged in anti chain-snatching patrolling duty when they were informed about a road crash near Dahisar metro station around 7.30 pm. The team rushed there in a police mobile van. A tempo had collided into two autorickshaws on the north bound arm of Western Express Highway. Police made inquiries and asked the the autorickshaw driver and a witness to sit in the mobile van to head to Dahisar police station. While they were seated in the stationary van, a speeding dumper moving towards Dahisar check-naka lost control while descending the Rawalpada flyover and rammed into another truck in front of it. As a result of the impact, the truck ended up taking a U-turn and rammed into a divider. Meanwhile, the dumper continued to move out of control and hit the police mobile van and two autorickshaws already impacted in the prior crash.One of the auto drivers, Ghanshyam Bihari, 30, was injured, besides a commuter, Vishal Gaud, who was waiting on the highway to find transport. The dumper driver, Nagesh Valmiki, was also injured.Dahisar Police registered a case against Valmiki and the dumper’s cleaner Sarvar Hariya.
