Srinagar, Sep 27: Three residential houses and a marriage hall were damaged in two separate fire incidents in Srinagar, officials said on Sunday.
A fire broke out in a three-storeyed residential house at Gadood Bagh, Kral Khud, and quickly spread to adjoining structures. Fire and Emergency Services teams from Babdemb and F&ES Headquarters rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of police and local residents, brought the blaze under control.
In another incident, a fire broke out in the attic portion of a marriage hall at Buchwara, Dalgate. Firefighters responded promptly and contained the blaze, preventing it from spreading further.
The incidents come amid a dry spell in the Valley, prompting Fire and Emergency Services authorities to urge people to take precautions against fire hazards.
Director General, Fire & Emergency Services, Alok Kumar, advised people against storing combustible and fire-prone materials on upper floors and in attic spaces and urged them to follow basic fire-safety measures.
