Bhojpur police swiftly apprehended three individuals, Avinash Pandey, Viraj Kumar, and Harish Pandey, within 24 hours of the murder of Class XI student Sumit Kumar. The victim, who had returned from Surat for his exams, was allegedly shot dead following an earlier dispute.

Ara: Within 24 hours of the murder of a Class XI student, Sumit Kumar, Bhojpur police on Tuesday evening arrested all three named accused.Jagdishpur SDPO Rajesh Kumar Sharma said, “The three arrested in Sumit’s murder are Avinash Pandey, Viraj Kumar and Harish Pandey. All are residents of Banahi village under Shahpur police station area of Bhojpur district, where Sumit also lived. The investigation is underway to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder.”Sumit, son of Rajiv Pandey, was shot dead in the wee hours of Monday. He had arrived from Surat (Gujarat), on Sunday night to appear for the BSEB Class XI final examination, which began on Monday.Though police have not officially disclosed the motive, the FIR lodged by Sumit’s grandfather alleged that the incident stemmed from an earlier altercation between Sumit and one of the accused.Sumit had reportedly objected to the accused’s alleged indecent behaviour towards a female member of his family. Following the dispute, the accused had allegedly threatened him with dire consequences.Sources said Sumit’s parents are employed in private sectior in Surat.
