Gandhi Maidan in Patna is now closed to the public until March 24th. This temporary closure allows for preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr prayers and the upcoming Bihar Diwas celebrations. Extensive security measures, including CCTV surveillance and a temporary police station, are in place. The district administration is ensuring all arrangements are finalized for these significant events.

Patna: In view of Bihar Diwas and Eid-ul-Fitr, the district administration has closed Gandhi Maidan for the public from Tuesday. Entry to the ground has been prohibited for all residents, including morning and evening walkers.The closure is aimed at making arrangements for Eid-ul-Fitr prayers and Bihar Diwas celebrations from March 22 to 24. After the Eid prayers, the venue will be opened for the public for the three-day Bihar Diwas celebration.Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the Bihar Diwas with workers engaged in levelling the ground and installing barricades, stages, and security infrastructure. As part of surveillance measures, 128 CCTV cameras have been installed and linked to the city control room. A temporary police station has been set up at the Gandhi Maidan, along with medical teams, ambulances, and fire tenders.Public utility arrangements include water tankers and water ATMs provided by the public health engineering department.District magistrate Thiyagarajan S M said the Gandhi Maidan will remain under control of administration until the commencement of the events.
