TIRUPUR: Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption sleuths on Friday arrested the secretary of the Anna Co-operative House Building Society Limited and two private individuals for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000 from a man.The arrested have been identified as society secretary Jothimani and intermediaries Thirunavukkarasu and Dhaksin.Loganathan from Gandhi Nagar had applied for a Rs 22 lakh housing loan with the cooperative society. The loan was sanctioned on Aug 11. However, to process and disburse the funds, Jothimani and the two others demanded a 3% commission totalling Rs 66,000. Following negotiations, the bribe amount was initially brought down to Rs 60,000 and later settled at Rs 55,000. On Aug 19, Thirunavukkarasu collected an advance payment of Rs 10,000 from Loganathan.Unwilling to pay the remaining sum, Loganathan lodged a complaint with the DVAC. A trap was laid on Friday. DVAC sleuths caught Thirunavukkarasu and Dhaksin red-handed while accepting Rs 45,000 bribe. Later, they arrested Jothimani too.
