Chikkamagaluru: Police have arrested three persons for allegedly burying a man who died after coming in contact with an illegal electric fence laid to trap wild boars in Donnekoranahalli village of Kadur taluk.Kariyappa, 55, accidentally stepped on the live wire while returning home after work and died on the spot. Police said Chandrappa, Kenchappa and Yadukumar had illegally installed the fence near the village to hunt wild boars.Instead of reporting the incident, the trio allegedly buried Kariyappa’s body to destroy evidence and evade legal action.When Kariyappa failed to return home, his family lodged a missing person complaint at Yagati police station.Acting on technical evidence, police took the accused into custody. CCTV footage from nearby areas provided crucial leads that helped crack the case.Villagers gathered outside Yagati police station demanding strict action. Police later arrested all three and registered a case. Further investigation is underway, a senior officer said.The body was exhumed Monday in the presence of the Kadur tahsildar.Officials said the Tarikere assistant commissioner was scheduled to visit the site, where Kariyappa’s body was exhumed for a post-mortem examination.Police deployed security personnel at the spot to preserve evidence and maintain law and order during the exhumation.
