Bettiah: Three people, including a man and his son, were killed, while another sustained critical injuries after two speeding motorcycles collided head-on near the Athaees Lakkha bridge on Sainik Road under the Sikta police station area in West Champaran district on Thursday evening.Those riding one of the motorcycles were identified as Faiyaz alias Ghongha Mian (60) and his son Neyaz alias Miththu Mian (30), residents of Gad Gamhariya village under the Kangali police station area. The other motorcycle was ridden by Kamrul (40) and Armaan Mian (25), residents of Biswa village in Parsa district of Nepal. Armaan died in the accident, while Kamrul sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment.According to local residents, all four men were riding at high speed and none was wearing a helmet. The impact of the collision was so severe that one person died on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.Sikta SHO Nitish Kumar Maurya said police received information about the incident through Dial 112. “A police team rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to the Sikta community health centre, where a doctor declared three people dead. The critically injured person was later referred to GMCH Bettiah for better treatment. An investigation has been initiated,” he said.
