Chandigarh: The Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC) launched a three-day citizen-centric ‘Tiranga Mela’ at Sector 17 Plaza on Wednesday to celebrate the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.Running from Aug 12 to 14, the event aims to bring together residents, local entrepreneurs, women self-help groups, and market associations in a display of patriotism and community participation.Chandigarh mayor Saurabh Joshi visited tricolour-themed stalls set up by local women self-help groups showcasing handcrafted products. Lauding the initiative for providing local artisans a national platform, Joshi urged residents to join in with pride, responsibility, and unity, adding that Har Ghar Tiranga should not remain merely a campaign but should become a people’s movement.Municipal commissioner Amit Kumar emphasised the role of public involvement in the campaign. Describing the fair as a platform where patriotism meets local talent and self-reliance, the commissioner noted that the mela provides citizens an opportunity to celebrate Independence Day while supporting women entrepreneurs.
