Times News NetworkKanpur: Police arrested three criminals in an encounter in connection with the robbery of Rs 25 lakh on the night of 6 August in Mohalla Dakari under the Gangaghat Kotwali area of Unnao. Of them, two were residents of Fatehpur and one was a resident of Kanpur. CO City said Rs 2.95 lakh, jewellery and mobile phones were recovered from the accused. Two miscreants from Fatehpur district sustained bullet injuries in the leg and were admitted to the district hospital.Miscreants who entered the house of eunuch Vaishali, a resident of Nai Basti Dakari under Gangaghat Kotwali, held the eunuch and driver Mohammad Asif hostage, assaulted them and carried out a robbery of Rs 30 lakh including cash and jewellery. CO City Vini Singh said an FIR was registered against unidentified miscreants.On Sunday,acting on a tip off Gangaghat Kotwali and the SOG team reached their hiding spot and surrounded the miscreants, who opened fire at the police and tried to flee. In retaliatory action, two miscreants were injured after being shot in the leg, while the third surrendered to the police.The CO said the two injured miscreants were Shaim alias Shoeb and Shafeeq alias Jagga, of Fatehpur. The third miscreant, Raja, is a resident of Babupurwa, Kanpur. The CO said both injured miscreants were admitted to the district hospital.More than 14 cases, including theft, robbery, explosives-related offences and NDPS, were regisltered against Shafeeq at various police stations in Fatehpur.
