Pune: Two constables and an officer from the city police were suspended on Wednesday after they were allegedly visited Kaas Plateau for sightseeing instead of investigating a domestic violence case.The three personnel were posted at the Vishrambaug police station. They had been assigned to investigate a domestic violence case. Additional commissioner of police Rajesh Bansode suspended the two constables and the officer.The suspended officer was the investigating officer in the domestic violence case. On April 4, she and the two constables travelled to Satara along with the complainant to conduct a spot inspection.According to the police, after reaching Satara, the officers were required to inform the local police station and seek assistance before carrying out the investigation.However, they failed to do so. They had lunch at a roadside eatery and later, around 3.15pm, visited the Shahupuri police station in Satara city. During the spot inspection, they neither questioned local residents nor carried out any meaningful investigation. They were also expected to record the proceedings with the concerned police station in Satara before returning to Pune.Instead, the police officer and the two constables proceeded to Kaas Plateau, accompanied by the complainant. During the journey, the complainant repeatedly informed the officers that her mother was was alone and unwell at home.As per the police, the complainant also said she needed to return to Pune at the earliest. Despite her requests, the officers continued their visit to Kaas Plateau and other nearby tourist destinations.The suspension order stated that, after sightseeing, they went to the residence of one of the constables for dinner. They finally returned to Pune at around 1am the next day. Initially, they attempted to drop the complainant at Swargate at that hour. However, after she requested not to be left alone so late at night, they dropped her at the Narayan Peth police chowky before leaving.The complainant subsequently approached senior police officers and reported the conduct of the three personnel. An inquiry was ordered and based on the findings, the suspension order was issued.
