Itanagar: Thousands of people, mostly youths, on Monday took out a protest march here against the wrongful detention of activist Sonam Wangchuk and demanding accountability over alleged examination paper leak scams.The rally, organised under the banner ‘Youth for Change’, began at Akashdeep and concluded at IG Park. Participants carried placards, raised slogans and expressed solidarity with Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike for the past two weeks.As the procession moved through the city, protesters called for transparency, fairness and integrity in the conduct of examinations, saying merit should not be compromised by corruption or malpractice.Addressing the gathering at IG Park, speakers said the issue affected the future of millions of students and urged the govt to introduce comprehensive reforms to restore public confidence in the examination system.The protest concluded peacefully, with participants reaffirming their support for Wangchuk’s agitation and resolving to continue their campaign until concrete measures are taken to strengthen the integrity of India’s examination process.Similar protests were held in Aalo and Namsai.
