Calangute: Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira on Thursday demanded an action plan after the main water supply pipeline ruptured at the market junction during Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) works, disrupting supply.The incident on Wednesday was the third in two months since the work began. Residents protested, alleging there was no engineer supervising the excavation, and no official inspected the site for over an hour after the damage.The GSIDC project involves an underground utility corridor from Jack Sequeira circle to the Bandodkar statue for drainage, water pipelines, electricity and communication cables. Locals said excavation had also damaged illegal sewage lines and the PWD water pipeline.“We want an action plan and to ensure that an engineer is always on site so that when something happens there can be immediate action and people should not suffer,” Sequeira said.He said the damaged pipeline was repaired, and a new line would be laid along the roadside.
