Mapusa: Early morning burglaries in Cunchelim, Mapusa, caused panic after thieves broke into two business establishments on Tuesday and stole Rs 65,000 in total.Mapusa police suspect that the same person or a gang may be involved in both the cases because the break-ins were done in a similar way.According to police, the first incident took place at a prominent cake and pastry shop. The thieves broke the shutter, entered the shop, and stole Rs 40,000 from the cash counter. The owner discovered it around 7.30am when opening the shop.Soon after, another burglary was reported at a nearby chicken stall. The thieves used a similar modus operandi to gain entry and stole Rs 25,000.Mapusa police have registered cases for both the incidents and have started an investigation.
