Chennai: AMMK MLA S Kamaraj said on Monday that the Cauvery issue will be solved only if BJP and Congress are not in power in the Centre and in Karnataka. Both Congress and BJP MLAs opposed the remarks.Speaking in the assembly about the Cauvery issue, Kamaraj said there should also be a regime change at Centre as well as Karnataka, just like Tamil Nadu.“After 60 years, there was a political change in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, a political change should happen in Karnataka and in the Centre ensuring that neither BJP nor Congress were in the govt. Only then, the Cauvery issue will be solved,” Kamaraj said. The AMMK MLA also said that the proposed Mekedatu dam will turn Cauvery delta districts into a desert. “Karnataka CM D K Shivakumar is refusing to give even a single drop of water to Tamil Nadu . Now, due to downpour in catchment areas in Karnataka, they are releasing excess water. If Mekedatu is constructed, TN will not even get the excess water,” Kamaraj said.Congress MLAs and lone BJP MLA M Bhojarajan hit back at Kamaraj for the remark.
