Mandya: Mandya district police have arrested 28 individuals who were allegedly involved in multiple theft cases reported across nine police stations between 2025 and 2026.The coordinated operation led to the recovery of stolen property worth approximately Rs 2.2 crore, including gold jewellery, silver articles, vehicles and cash. The recovered items were formally returned to their owners by the cops at the District Police Bhavan on Saturday.Superintendent of police VJ Shobharani said that the police successfully solved 39 theft-related cases across the Mandya, Srirangapatna, Nagamangala and Malavalli subdivisions. The recovered property includes 1.488 kg of gold, 950 grams of silver, 26 two-wheelers and Rs 30,000 in cash.Police also highlighted a remarkable incident in Juganahalli village where a 62-year-old woman bravely resisted an attempted robbery by four armed men. Despite sustaining injuries, she managed to fend off the attackers by throwing chilli powder at them, which helped the police later trace and arrest the suspects. In another significant success, the Nagamangala police recovered gold jewellery worth more than Rs 1.1 crore after intercepting four suspects near Devalapura Handpost.Additional superintendents of police CE Thimmaiah and SE Gangadharaswamy were also present.
