Chandigarh: Sector 34 police claimed to have solved a theft case within 24 hours of its registration, arresting two accused and recovering seven stolen mobile phones and two Activa scooters.The accused were identified as Sarvesh alias Kamal alias Panchhi (24), a resident of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, and Sagar alias Kancha (21), a resident of Burail in Sector 45.Police said the case came to light after Neeraj Kumar, a native of Bihar’s Gopalganj district, reported that mobile phones had been stolen from a room where he and five other labourers were staying while working at a construction site in Sector 33-C. The theft allegedly took place on the night of Aug 15-16 while the workers were asleep.Following the complaint, police registered a case against unidentified persons on Aug 17 and launched an investigation. During the probe, the two accused were arrested and some of the stolen mobile phones were recovered from them.Police said on Sarvesh’s disclosure, five more stolen mobile phones were recovered from a forested area near the health department in Sector 34-A. Based on Sagar’s disclosure, two allegedly stolen Activa scooters were recovered from an unpaved parking area opposite Laxmi Narayan Temple in Sector 44.The recovery includes seven mobile phones, comprising one Samsung, four Vivo, one Lava and one Oppo handset, besides two Activa scooters.Further investigation is under way.
